About Paul Berkobin

Songsmith-Musician-Entertainer-Singer-Master of the Moment.

He's a passionate and purposeful songwriter, who's played for audiences around the country and overseas. On stage, he's the consummate entertainer. At one of his shows, you never know what might happen next: impromptu comedy, songs made up on the spot, a giant raving sing along… At the center, the songs are always right on: riveting, compelling and unique.

As a songwriter, Paul commands a fascinating, intriguing style. Having written and performed songs in diverse genres, he is versatile and prolific. There are times he will go through periods of writing and finishing a song a day. In the process of writing hundreds of songs, he's discovered that “writer's block” is an illusion. Also in the process of writing so many songs, he's developed unique methods for creating special, memorable, effective songs.

Paul holds a BA from Penn State University in Fiction Writing. In addition, he's a 3-time ASCAP writer's award winner, and a collection of his material was a winner in the North American Crossroads Magazine 2000 Music Awards. Paul has studied with various Grammy Award winning writers and many other masters of the craft.

Paul fronted the nationally touring band Del Gattos for 6 years through the late 90's, and he has taught performance and songwriting at festivals, schools and universities around the country. In 2002 he was rostered by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. He's also served as house entertainer/emcee at the Planet Bluegrass Rocky Mountain Folks Fest Song School for the last four years.

Having played at clubs, festivals, listening rooms and schools around the country, Paul's path as a songwriter leads him to diverse audiences. In every situation, he shares a keen skill for giving wildly memorable shows filled with songs that quickly become old favorites. Paul's music opens emotion and artistry with a purpose. "I believe in loving ourselves and each other. Music heals hearts minds and spirits. In fashioning songs, that's what it's all about."
