Mike Deaton is a performer, an experienced djembe and hand-drum teacher, and a facilitator of music for all experience levels. Mike has performed for thousands as part of Jim Donovan's Drum the Ecstatic International ensemble and several other music groups.
As a teacher and facilitator, Mike's hands-on style emphasizes joy and creativity, as well as technique. He has extensive experience with beginners of all ages, and has brought drumming into Elementary through University level classrooms. He has also designed interactive, uplifting musical events for groups of ESL teachers, massage therapists, seniors, and Katrina survivors, to name a few. He has created drumming activities for family gatherings, churches, and festivals, as well as various state and national conferences.
Mike also works for the Department of Social Services, designing curriculum and providing training sessions to musically empower teachers, child care providers, and others who work with children.
