Moe Jerant is an endorsed Remo HealthRhythms facilitator, drummer, teacher, percussionist and performer. She holds a BA in Fine Arts Music and plays drum set, djembe and a variety of frame drums including, tar, riq and tipper and fingerstyle bodhran.
As a facilitator Moe has become the "go to" person for drum programs in the Lehigh Valley, PA. She's worked with everyone from school children, youth at risk, the business community, special needs students, senior groups and lots of enthusiastic drummers. New for 2008 is the First Wednesday Community Drum Circle which recently featured a circle with junk percussion.
As a teacher Moe offers private lessons in snare, drum set and djembe. She offers ongoing djembe classes at Dave Phillips Music/Allentown and is working with the East Penn School District teaching djembe in their adult learning program. Moe's 10 week Newbie Classes are offered periodically throughout the year and are popular with folks who want to acquire skills to confidently drum in any drum circle setting.
Moe is the artistic director of the all women's djembe group the Jamani Drummers who recently released their first CD and performed at the 1st annual Day of Drumming in Bethlehem, PA with Jim Donovan.
Moe believes very firmly in giving her students the opportunity to perform. When opportunities arise, students from Moe's weekly classes come together and perform at local music festivals as THE GREAT DJEMBE JAM.
As a performer Moe can be seen in some unexpected places. She recently played percussion for the spring Cantitica Chamber Ensemble concert and was drummer for "Gathering Soul" a dance piece choregraphed by Sarah Carlson, assisstant professor of dance at Muhlenberg College.
