The Drummer and The Dancer International Tour

An evening of ecstatic drumming, dancing and song.

WHAT IT IS:
The Drummer and the Dancer International Tour is an ecstatic live performance experience that beautifully blends modern dance and ballet with indigenous African influenced drumming and dancing.

The music, composed and performed by Jim Donovan (Rusted Root) along with his powerful rhythm ensemble, consists of traditional West African Drumming, music from his recently award nominated CD Revelation #9 and few classics from his band Rusted Root.

The Family Dance Company (NY) directed and choreographed by internationally renowned director/producer/choreographer Sean McLeod will perform along with Donovan in this high energy, unforgettable stage experience.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:
Rarely have I seen a performance that I can’t stop thinking about, but on December 3 I saw the Drummer and the Dancer International Tour with Jim Donovan, of Rusted Root, and Sean McLeod, International performing personality from the New York Institute of Dance and Education.

From the way Jim conducts his drumming sessions, I knew this would be a wonderful event, but I wasn’t prepared for the excitement generated at the performance.

The evening performance opened with WCCC’s interactive drumming students, which was impressive, especially for their family members who were there to lend their support. These novice drummers, under Jim’s tutelage, gave an amazing demonstration of drumming.

The main event was the performance of the Drummer and the Dancer. Sean and Jim have a symbiotic connection that is so apparent to anyone who sees them together and their vocals, Jim’s drumming, and Sean’s dancing are captivating, mesmerizing, and exciting. They encouraged audience participation as they performed and the audience was happy to be included.

The Drummer and the Dancer International Tour amazingly appeals to all ages, from toddlers to seniors. I was sitting in the same row as a five year-old who was behaving as a typical five year-old until the performance began. He sat with his arms resting on the seat in front of him and never once took his eyes from the stage.
